Match Context: Lorient's fatal acceleration in the second half

In the cold of the Stade du Moustoir, Jean-Guy Wallemme's Lens team had a solid first half, containing Lorient's collective play well. The situation completely changed after half-time, when midfielder Morgan Amalfitano opened the scoring with a precise shot in the 49th minute (1-0). Stunned, the Lens block exposed itself and the Bretons took advantage to double their lead seven minutes later through Lynel Kitambala (56th minute). The "Sang et Or" fought hard to reduce the deficit, but Lorient midfielder Arnold Mvuemba added to their woes a quarter of an hour before the final whistle (74th minute). Despite their courage, RC Lens succumbed to the realism and technical fluidity of their opponent (3-0).
